split/shift is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Milwaukee that cultivates connection, creativity, and community through music, art, and cultural experiences. We create intentional spaces where people can gather, express themselves, and build meaningful relationships. Our mission is to support artists, uplift local communities, and foster inclusive environments that inspire personal growth, collective joy, and long-lasting impact.
Built by the community, for the community, split/shift exists as a space both digital and in-person – url/irl – Where people can share music, make new friends, and stay connected.
Rooted in Milwaukee’s vibrant creative scene, split/shift collaborates with local artists, venues, and partners to host workshops, dance events, community meetups, and cultural projects that strengthen the fabric of our city. Every event is shaped with intention, accessibility, and inclusion in mind. Our work supports the artists who move the culture forward and the communities who make it possible.
It’s about people supporting people: uplifting voices, celebrating local talent, and creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.

Our vision is a Milwaukee where creativity, connection, and community are accessible to everyone. we imagine a future where music and art serve as catalysts for personal transformation, collective healing, and social impact. split/shift seeks to inspire a thriving cultural ecosystem that uplifts artists, supports local organizations, and brings people together across backgrounds and experiences. we strive to build lasting spaces and experiences that ignite joy, foster belonging, and strengthen the fabric of our community for generations to come.
The purpose of split/shift is to bring people together through music, art, and authentic community experiences. split/shift exists to create intentional spaces where individuals can connect, express themselves, and feel a genuine sense of belonging. split/shift makes a meaningful impact in Milwaukee by using music and culture as a force for good. we host charity events that raise funds, awareness, and direct support for local organizations that strengthen our community, including partners like hunger task force, our space, and other grassroots groups doing essential work.
through these collaborations, we help address food insecurity, support mental health resources, uplift vulnerable populations, and so much more that makes an impact. our events not only create space for connection and creativity, they also generate real-world contributions that flow back into the neighborhoods we call home. by bringing people together around a shared purpose, split/shift turns community energy into community impact.
